Magazines are something that people in the world read every day. Magazines are issued periodically, usually in a paper cover, and typically contains essays, stories, poems, etc., by many writers, and often photographs and drawings, frequently specializing in a particular subject or area, as hobbies, news, music, or sports. Magazines are issued at regular intervals either weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly. There are different forms of magazines, the paperback is a term now used to refer to a type of book rather than a magazine. Magazines most of the time only have one topic to talk about or to show, for example, music or sports, the magazine would only consist of information about sports or music throughout the whole magazine.
I believe that the importance of magazines have fallen a massive amount, this is due to many reasons, I believe that the main reason is because of the rise in technology and the creation of the internet, the internet is a place where everyone can access and find useful information, there's a lot of pros and cons with the internet, and so for magazines, some pros for magazines are Magazine advertising can be targeted to specific demographics. new media have been affecting printed media including the magazine. Some of the major magazines shut down because of the decreased audience lured by internet and mobile network to more instant information. This seems like all of the printed media to fade away and disappear forever. However, actually, the value of printed magazines and media has been increased because it is rare. As instant and entertaining information in the internet world became an issue, people take printed media as authentic sources. In addition to this, lots of new technological development in the printing field revived the field.
The Magazine industry is dying in many ways. You’ll still see magazines but their presence will steadily decline over time. Many of the niche industry magazines will probably transition to a digital format. A few of the magazines that still have a chance of surviving are very high-end magazines. These magazines are able to attract high-end buyers and clients with huge advertising budgets or subsidized by other means. Magazines can be very reliable due to the information being first hand. A con would be that its time consuming and some are not free. The pros that the internet provider is that you can find anything you could ever imagine in detail on the internet. Magazine circulation has fallen a great amount during the last couple of years, statistics show results from the last six months to the end of June 2019 that almost all magazines have fallen, for example, Hello! magazine has fallen by -16% and Women's Health magazine has fallen by -6%, and surprisingly the only magazine that has had an increase in sales was RED magazine, RED magazine has an increase in 3%, these statistics back up the point that there is a huge decline in sales for magazines, and the only magazines that are actually selling and making a profit are fashion magazines, I would say this is because fashion is a never-dying industry and people always interesting in clothes, for example, clothes that come out when its the new season ext, on fashion magazines there tend to be images of fashion shows and events and a lot of adverts to sell an item, I would say within this industry it is still a very effective way to sell something to the audience.
